I am loving my new press, it is portable, compact and produces some great results. Ideal for all you printmakers on the move. Looking forward to taking it on my residency in Italy.
The Xcut Xpress is traditionally used as a die cutting machine for making cards but works brilliantly as a portable press! The roller's adjustable height allows the press to be used for relief prints, collagraphs, drypoints and etchings.
This Xcut Xpress pack comes with an A4 print bed I recommend buying or making your own extended print bed at 600mm x 220mm x 12mm. Also included is one 600mm x 215mm piece of 3mm thick industrial compressed felt. I ordered mine online from Handprinted.
A few places Where you can buy your Xcut Xpress from in the UK and NZ - I have attached the links below
1.This is a great site provides videos about the machine and how to use it for relief printing, etchings and collagraphs. Check it out. The only disappointing aspect is that they only distribute in the UK. Handprinted.co.uk
2.Another site in the UK that do deliver internationally is costs £79 roughly $160 for my Kiwi printmakers reading this. They do not sell the extended print bed. Hobbycraft.co.uk
3.Lincraft in NZ used to stock it. Can't see it advertised at the moment, might be worth giving them a call. Lincraft.co.nz
4.Fishpond is also selling it at a very expensive price $459, rediculous. Fishpond.co.nz
Happy printmaking everyone, hope this helps. I will also contact some of my regular art suppliers in NZ if they would be interested in selling this little press. It is fabulous. I will let you know how it develops.
The woodcut print I have just created is 420mm x 140mm. A view across Montgomeryshire on the Shropshire / Welsh boarder.
